For Music Monday, we're appreciating Louis Tomlinson's unique and powerful voice. Louis' vocal range is an A2 to D5. If all these numbers and letters are Greek to you, check out these two videos, which feature Louis' hitting each note in the range during various songs. You can hear his complete range and see how his voice adds to whatever song he is singing.
The D5 is from his high school performance of Grease. You can hear it around 5:09 in the video below. As a sidenote, how cute is Louis playing Danny Zuko? If you want more of Louis in Grease, search on YouTube or check out this video uploaded by Louis himself in May 2010.
Louis' voice has a tone that is so unique. Once you hear his voice, you'll recognize it as soon as you hear it again. One of the qualities he's known for is the the amount of emotion he packs into his vocals. He's also known for his breath control while singing complicated lyrics. His vocals added texture and filled out the sound of so many One Direction songs. His voice is often described as bright and angelic, but warm and raspy as well. Overall, once you hear Louis, you won't forget him!
Louis just won Choice Male Artist at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards, managing to take home the award without having even released his album yet. Accepting his award, he said, “My fans are the best fans in the world. They’re the most important people in this whole project and I cannot thank you enough. You are the reason I do what I do. This one’s for you, thank you.”
Louis has been in the studio during his down time from X Factor finishing up his solo album, which will likely come out in 2019 with a single possibly dropping any time between now and the end of the year (with our best guess being near the X Factor Finale in December).
