It was another rollercoaster of emotions for Louis Tomlinson on Day 8 of X Factor auditions with touching songs, laughter, a scare, a middle finger, and tattoos (yes, tattoos!). According to fan reports, Louis was a bit quieter today than he has been in the past tapings, but he was praised for going "straight to the point" and using "technical terms" and "always encouraging" the contestants.
I’m really surprised because out of the 4 judges, Louis is definitely the one talking the less and the quiet one 👀— Sol ◟̽◞̽ (@RogueForLove) July 27, 2018
Louis was really quiet today and didn’t go inside the audience at all— Sol ◟̽◞̽ (@RogueForLove) July 27, 2018
Louis is gonna be the best judge. He doesn’t talk that much but he goes straight to the point and uses technical terms and is always encouraging to the contestants 👏🏼👏🏼— Sol ◟̽◞̽ (@RogueForLove) July 27, 2018
Grab a tissue for this one, folks. You may need it. A contestant wrote and sang an original song about his mother passing away and it not only earned praise from Louis, but a hug as well.
Louis and Robbie Williams are apparently getting tattoos together. Fan accounts were mixed on whether Louis and Robbie were tattooing each other, whether they were just picking tattoos for the other (with an actual tattoo artist doing the work), or even if Simon was going to tattoo Robbie and Ayda tattoo Louis (which sounds the least likely). The audience didn't get to witness the tattooing so fans will have to wait until the show airs to see it.
A group sang One Direction's Drag Me Down and although fan reports said it wasn't the best, it was enough to get a yes from Louis.
An unusual act had Louis commenting that it was the most bizarre thing he'd ever seen on the show and that it "felt wrong" and "was scary" - one can only imagine what on earth that act was!
An older contestant talked about following your dreams at any age and Louis agreed, to the delight of his fans.
Louis called a contestant a "genius" for taking a song and making it their own.
Louis told a contestant with "Bon Jovi" hair not to "man bun" it. Another contestant in a purple paisley silk shirt with long, curly hair fared better, earning a “nice hair and nice shirt” from Louis.
The Louis vs. Simon banter continues, with Louis flipping off Simon. No reports on what caused that, but I'm sure it was well-deserved.
The cushions they've placed on Louis' chair to raise him up kept falling off. #pillowproblems
Fans have reported Louis is staying well-hydrated during tapings and now we have evidence:
Dates and tickets were released for the Six Chair Challenge, where contestants are split into different categories and assigned a mentor. Contestants sing in front of judges and a live audience. Each act’s mentor then decides if they deserve one of the six seats, but even if they get one, they can be "knocked out" if their mentor decides to replace them with a subsequent performer.
