Amidst rumors, Louis Tomlinson has been officially confirmed as a judge for The X Factor UK.
His return to the show marks the eighth year since his chart-topping band, One Direction, was formed there in 2010. One Direction's staggering worldwide success garnered the talent show its highest ever ratings in its seventh series.
It's impossible to think of the X Factor without remembering how much One Direction influenced the show's history and legacy. Louis' seat at the judge's table will undoubtedly be the high point of the show's fifteenth season.
Speaking at the press conference, Louis again asserted his excitement for his upcoming music releases, saying: "People were worried I was going to give up music. My release schedule actually hasn’t changed.”
Louis also mentioned his bandmates' continued support, adding "[the guys are] always very supportive about that kind of thing, you know what I mean? I’m sure I’ll get a call from Niall or Liam tonight."
Sure enough, bandmate Niall Horan tweeted his congratulations to Louis shortly after the press conference concluded.
Louis spoke to fans prior to the photocall and, when asked about his upcoming debut solo album, said he's "ready to go" and plans to release the album "as soon as he can".
Louis closed the press conference by expressing his excitement to help mentor the show's contestants, adding: "Granting opportunity to other people is something that’s really exciting to me."
With the announcement confirmed, Louis' fans turn their anticipation toward his upcoming album. Louis' current singles - "Miss You", "Back To You", "Just Hold On", and more - can be streamed here.
