Louis Tomlinson set the tone for today's X Factor auditions when he appeared in a Heron Preston Me v Me t-shirt that said "No matter how hard you try, you can't stop me now" on the front and "Build Your Own Future" on the back. Louis quickly set to working helping contestants build their own futures by offering up some good advice.
After a contestant complained that he felt awkward without a keyboard or guitar, Louis said, "There’s nothing awkward about having an amazing voice and you have one.”
Louis continues to show his sweet side, giving comments such as “it’s just everything you say is so endearing and sweet” to one contestant and saying, "It was so, so fun to watch you perform, there was so much passion, I honestly couldn’t stop smiling" to another.
But he gave some tough love, too, telling a contestant that X Factor wasn’t the right show for them when they auditioned with a screamo song. Louis seems to try and let contestants down easy, offering up a compliment with his rejection. He told one contestant, "You’re really, really lovely and I’m sure you’ve got a lot of mates, but I don’t think this is the right show for you.” He told another, "I’m proud of you for coming on and a taking the chance, but I just don’t think this show is for you.”
Louis showed support for a contestant from Doncaster, his home town, by giving her a yes only for that reason, but the audience booed him so he flipped them off. He also posed with fans who were holding a Doncaster banner.
Louis was in a jovial mood, joking and laughing during judging. After a contestant complimented Simon Cowell on the personal fan he uses saying, “Nice fan Simon, that’s the only fan you have isn’t it," Louis burst out laughing.
When Simon couldn't hear a contestant, Louis said, “Simon’s forgot to put his hearing aid in!”
He continued the tit for tat with Simon by telling Simon to "shut up" at one point.
Louis, who has said he would have been a drama teacher if he hadn't made it big with One Direction, continues to offer comfort and advice to contestants who are a bit scared of the process. One contestant on stage was a big Louis fan and got a bit emotional so Louis went up to comfort her and give her advice, which made Robbie Williams start a chant of, "he’s a lovely man”.
Fans are enjoying seeing all the pictures and videos of Louis performing his judging duties. Tomorrow marks the 8 year anniversary of One Direction's creation on X Factor. A prolific songwriter, Louis wrote on 37 of One Direction's hits. Fans can't wait to hear Louis' debut album. Here's one of the teaser clips Louis posted earlier this year.
