Today's Sunday Smile is a picture of Louis Tomlinson from a photoshoot with Phil Sharp for Noisey. In the wide-ranging interview, Louis talks about his early days in a Green Day tribute band, trying out for X Factor for the third time figuring he had nothing to lose, and how he stays grounded as a celebrity.
When asked what's next, his answer sounds remarkably like the lyrics from his song, Just Like You:
"I feel like I've got a message in my music and how I carry myself. I feel like the least celebrity person in a very 'celebrity' environment, so with that comes a unique mindset…" he trails off. "You know, we all have the same problems, that's the bottom line—they just look a lot different. Those fundamental things that make you feel upset, they're the same. I think you tend to think that you're going to be famous, you're going to be in a band, and then life's complete. But no, I think it's about having perspective over the whole thing… even when you're on top of the world, you have to keep thinking about the next step."
Just Like You was released as a promotional single October 11, 2017, just three months after the interview. Louis has been in the studio finishing up his solo album during his down time from taping X Factor segments as a judge this season. The album will likely come out in 2019 with a single possibly dropping any time between now and the end of the year (with our best guess being near the X Factor Finale in December). Speaking of his album, Louis said:
"In ten years time, the most important thing for me is that I'll deliver a good album that people connect with, and then after that... who knows? I'll set myself a new target. As soon as you start to feel comfortable, it's a dangerous place to be in. That keeps my drive up, that keeps me going."
