Tonight, for the finals each act sang twice, once as a solo and once as a duet. The episode started with a flashback of the entire season. They brought the judges out and Robbie Williams performed with the contestants who had been kicked off previously. The finalists came out to sing Freedom.
Dermot said this was a head to head competition between Simon and Louis.
Anthony was first up. They showed clips of him in Liverpool. They went to the stadium. Anthony asked if he’d held his own this season and Louis said he’d done amazing.
Louis told Anthony, “Forget about doing it for me this week, do it for yourself this week”. He sang Let It Be by The Beatles.
Simon called it the most perfect song he could have done. Louis said Anthony’s had an emotional week and wished “loads of love” to him.
Dalton was next. They showed video of him doing a radio interview and meeting fans. Then Dalton met with Louis and his sister. Then Dalton performed at an Anne-Marie gig. Dalton sang A Song For You by Donna Hathaway.
The crowd cheered so loud for him. They wouldn’t stop cheering. Robbie said the UK adores him. Simon called Louis the most amazing mentor. Louis said “for me, it’s been evident for me since Week 1 that you were one of the best singers in this competition.” He was excited for his career and proud of him.
Scarlett was last to go. In the video clip, she appeared on Loose Women and met fans. Simon went to her house to talk to her parents and then she performed and asked for people to vote. She sang Your Song by Elton John. Louis said the reaction in the room tells you all you need to know. He said she was an amazing performer and person.
Dermot announced the winner’s single proceeds will go to charities. James Arthur and Anne-Marie sang a song from The Greatest Showman. Next was the duets.
Louis said Anthony wears his heart on his sleeve. Anthony sang Leave the Light On as a duet with Tom Walker. Louis thanked Tom for doing the duet and said he was a gentleman.
Louis said “Every time Dalton goes on stage, i just slide me seat back a little bit, look at Simon and say ‘i dare you to say this wasn’t great’”.
Dalton sang Beneath Your Beautiful as a duet with Emeli Sandé. Louis said Dalton stood out for him at Judge’s House and Louis thanked Emeli for doing this and making a dream come true for Dalton. Dalton’s best friend showed up and brought him to tears.
Louis said he and Simon had enjoyed “winding each other up”.
George Ezra performed. Then, Scarlett sang Angels as a duet with Robbie Williams.
