Today’s Throwback Thursday is a picture of young Louis Tomlinson hard at work making music. Besides singing, acting, and performing in musical theater, Louis was mixing and creating music as a teen.
You can hear some of his early efforts on his old YouTube channel. The most famous cover from that channel is his cover of Look After You.
During his years with One Direction, he wrote on 37 of their songs and now as a solo artist, Louis continues to write, creating hits like Just Hold On, Back to You, and Miss You. Louis’ debut album is due out later this year or early 2019.
Speaking to Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2, Louis said:
“It’s been a long process. I feel like I’ve been doing this album for a long time. I’m also used to what we did in the band, and it was, y’know, like, six months of writing, and then boom, boom, boom….um, so it’s taken a little bit longer than I anticipated, but I am…I’m a proper perfectionist, so y’know, I’ve got…I’ve got the bulk of the album, there’s just another couple of songs that I know I need to write, and I’m waiting to write.”
Of the songs on his album, Louis said, “It’s more personal now. It was almost easier to write, in that sense, knowing that, y’know, it was a bit little more open, whereas now, there’s more pressure on me, saying this is who I am, really, so I’m feeling that, but I enjoy that, definitely.
When asked how many songs would be on the album, Louis replied, “I think…look, I’m a bit pedantic about this. I want it to be value for money, so like, there’ll be as many tracks as I can get on there, to be honest. ‘Cause I’ve got a lot of album tracks, I’m just missing a couple of bangers.”
Dermot asked how many are on an album these days and Louis said, “Yeah, I’d like to put closer to that, on the deluxe one, yeah, yeah, closer to that, I reckon.”
Fans are getting excited for the album, the tour, and Louis’ merch, which leaked online last week.
