Tonight’s theme for the X Factor live show as Guilty Pleasures. They did a recap of what happened last week before introducing the judges.
LMA Choir was up first with Proud Mary. Louis wanted to hear more of their harmonies. “Vocally, I want to hear a little bit more.”
Next was Shan singing Sorry. She got a standing ovation from the judges. Louis said, “Unbelievable vocal. I really felt the fight in there.”
Danny was next. He’s been under the weather. His voice went out and he was on vocal rest for 3 days. Louis said he was a little bored with Danny’s song.
Brendan had gotten bad comments last week from Simon. Louis wanted him to go outside his comfort zone.
Brendan Murray sang Believe by Cher. The judges gave him mixed results. Louis said “What some people don’t realize that if you get bad comments they consume you throughout the week.” He said, “Well done.”
Misunderstood was up next. Louis liked the creatives (set). But, he said, “In general, the fact that where the audience was most excited was the dance break is a bit scary.”
Molly was next. Louis acknowledged how hard it is when your song changes at the last minute. Louis said, “Simon, sit down and stop clapping…I’m not 100% sure we got to see what you’re capable of.” When Simon said Molly’s voice had been out during the week, Louis said, “Playing the sympathy card.”
Dalton Harris sang I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston. During rehearsals, Louis said, “This is a risk in a good way.”
The crowd loved it. Simon called it Dalton’s “moment”. Simon even complimented Louis.
Louis said, “As far as I’m concerned, you are in your own league vocally in this competition. I give you a bigger challenge every week and you raise the bar. I’ve not heard a reaction like this in the room. That’s you!”
Scarlett was next. She struggled with her first song during rehearsals so they changed it to Always On My Mind. She got a standing ovation from the judges. “Of all the contestants, I’m drawn to you. You’re a very likable person. That vocal you delivered there was amazing.” He commented on how Simon likes to start with acapella and that’s brave.
Acacia and Aaliyah were next. They did a slow song at first and switched to grime at the end. Louis said, “This is exactly what i was asking for — a bit more street.” He also liked that you could hear their vocals in the beginning in the slower song.
Gio was next singing Hit Me Baby One More Time. Louis first complimented Gio for being so polite. “It was one step too intense and too weird for me. It was a bit too mental for me.” Dermot teased Louis for not reading the crowd (they seemed to love Gio).
Anthony Russell sang I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner. During rehearsals, Louis teased Anthony, “Next week, if you get through, at least give me a little cuddle, you know what i mean? You forgot about me as soon as you got through.”
Robbie and Ayda loved it. Simon didn’t love the production of the track, but said he loved the vocal and his heart and wants him to do well. Louis said, “You have a different kind of energy to any other contestant.” He said he was honest and endearing.
United Vibe was next. Simon said it was terrible. Louis kind of agreed. They all said that their name is terrible so maybe twitter will pick a name for them. They said they felt like 5 individuals and they need more chemistry. They didn't like the song choice.
Bella did a mix of Diamonds Are Forever and a rap. “I absolutely think you have what it takes to be an artist.” He didn’t like the “moody guys with shades behind you” because they were a bit distracting.
Janice was last to go. Louis said, “I thought it was the right song…I found the creative a little bit cringe. IT didn’t feel believable when you were doing it.”
